The Blood Center Foundation
About:
The Blood Center Foundation is the fundraising arm of The Blood Center (TBC). Contributions made to the foundation help support TBC’s ongoing educational and community outreach programs dedicated to the procurement and provision of blood components, and help to provide technical support, research and testing critical to the communities we serve.
As a non-profit community organization, TBC relies on the generosity of the community to help ensure a healthy and stable blood supply. Whether it is through blood donations, sponsoring blood drives, or through financial gifts, your support helps save lives! Contributions are tax deductible for income and estate tax purposes.
Mission:
The Blood Center Foundation is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. The Foundation shall specifically provide financial support to organizations dedicated to the procurement and provision of blood components and provide technical support to the blood banking profession in the communities they serve.

- Naming TBC in your will
Funding Priorities:
- Go for the Gold: Recruiting, and more importantly, retaining a healthy group of donors has always been a challenge for blood centers. The Blood Center believes in taking a proactive approach to both. If everyone who donated once a year donated twice there would never be a blood shortage. Such a fact compelled TBC to begin a special donor retention program called ‘Go for the Gold’ in 2001. Conceived to encourage donors to come back and donate (at least three times a year), this recognition program has been a tremendous success for our loyal donors and has converted some one-time donors into repeat donors.
- Lifesaver Program: Most people are ultimately not aware of the great need for blood. From the very young to the very old, from our future blood donors to our regular blood donors, we believe strongly that it is our responsibility to teach the community about the vital need for a steady stream of donors. The Lifesaver program is part of The Blood Center’s educational vision. Teaching school-aged children the value of giving, and the important role blood donors play in the community not only plants the seed for future blood donors, but encourages students to recruit their own parents, grandparents, neighbors and teachers to become donors. The Blood Center prints special ‘pint-sized’ t-shirts for our young ‘Lifesaver’ team.
